“Picasso, erudite hand, wild eye” lands in Santiago with LATAM Cargo

From December 14, 2016 until March 5, 2017 will be exhibited at the Centro Cultural La Moneda in Santiago, Chile, the largest exhibition ever of artist Pablo Picasso presented in the country. The exhibition consists of 135 works, including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, engravings, photographs and drawings belonging to the Musée National Picasso-Paris.

The pieces that give life to this exhibition were transported by LATAM Cargo from São Paulo and Viracopos, Brazil, in 3 commercial airplanes and 2 cargo airplanes, respectively, totaling 4,629 kilos. This operation added up to 5,300 kilos from Paris, which were sent on a cargo plane that left Amsterdam directly to Santiago de Chile. Between both origins, this exhibition meant the transport of about 10 tons of works of art.

Due to their complexity and value, these types of shipments require certain conditions that LATAM Cargo guarantees through the SECURE service. Part of the new product portfolio, the SECURE service is designed to carry valuable items with the highest level of security. Thus, the load has maximum measures of vigilance and its times of reception and delivery are minimal.

This exhibition arrives in Chile after a great success in the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and includes pieces specially selected for exhibition in Santiago. It includes 35 medium and large size paintings, 41 drawings, 20 sculptures, 20 engravings and 19 photographs, arranged in nine sections that, together, cover the profuse career of the artist in its different phases. In this way, visitors can discover and understand the creative process of Pablo Picasso in chronological order.

With Picasso. Erudite hand, wild eye, the La Moneda Cultural Center closes a year marked by celebrations of its tenth anniversary, which presented great exhibitions and obtained records of visitors. One of them was about ancient Egypt, life on the Nile, whose works were also transported by LATAM Cargo from Germany. This exhibition was the most visited in the history of CCLM, receiving more than 500,000 visitors in 4 months.

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was one of the greatest and most prolific Spanish painters of all time. His work divides the history of universal art and marks it as before and after Picasso, not only because of its importance in the development of hermetic and synthetic cubism, but for exploring the most diverse styles and being a constant influence for later generations of artists. Among the main works of this exhibition are Two women running on the beach (1922), Paulo as Harlequin (1917) and Figures by the sea (1931).
