The Netherlands team invites customers to take a peek at cargo operations

In February, LAN CARGO invited its main Dutch customers to visit the companies’ facilities and learn about its operations at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.

The purpose of the invitation to “Discover LAN CARGO behind the scenes” was to allow customers to familiarize themselves with the different processes involved in cargo operations.

Representatives of 18 freight forwarders that work with LAN CARGO in the Netherlands — including Speed, Hellman, CH Robinson, Senator International, Geodis Wilson, IAA, Rotra, Yusen and Expeditors — participated in the activity. The companies transport products from the Netherlands to different points in Latin America.

It was a very interesting activity. We watched the aircraft’s landing, the unloading and platform operations and all the details that make operations successful. We thank LAN CARGO for making this day possible,” said Rutger Patterson from Senator International B.V.

At Schiphol, customers met with airport authorities, who accompanied them during the visit. The group was then escorted to the runway to watch the landing of a B777F, which transported flowers from Ecuador and Colombia. They were also invited to see the inside of the aircraft and witness its loading and unloading. The activity was the result of joint work between airport authorities at Schiphol and LAN CARGO’s team in the Netherlands.

It was such an amazing experience to watch an aircraft land just 50 meters away. Once inside it, you realize how important ULD dimensions are. Thank you LAN CARGO team and Schiphol for allowing us to have this experience,” said Eric Raadschelders, a supervisor at Air Export Gateway.
