Developments in the health industry and the rapid evolution of the cold chain associated with it challenge the actors involved in the transportation of these products in keeping up to date and constantly adapt their processes to ensure the quality of shipments.

Under this context of continued progress the 14th Annual Cold Chain GDP & Temperature Management Logistics Global Forum, one of the largest meetings on cold chain and transportation of pharmaceutical products took place. Held in the city of Boston, United States, it had about 100 exhibitors, including LATAM Cargo, and the participation of more than 850 people.

Representing LATAM Cargo, Cristina Oñate, Senior Manager of Marketing and Product Development spoke about the main challenges when transporting pharmaceutical products in Latin America, as well as presenting some mitigation strategies and solutions for the successful transportation of these products in the Latin America region. The subject was very well received by the audience, given the growing experience of the company with import of drugs and clinical trials in Latin America in recent years.

This meeting is one of the most important in terms of logistics and cold chain. It is a very good opportunity to stay up to date with the latest trends in the industry, meet with customers and suppliers and contribute to discussions on transportation of pharmaceuticals. In these terms, LATAM Cargo has much to contribute, since it is one of the main players in the Latin American market”, says Cristina Oñate, Senior Manager of Marketing and Product Development.

Transport of drugs by LATAM Cargo

LATAM Cargo transports drugs since the beginning of its operation, which has allowed it to gain experience in this industry. The company has a special product for the transportation of pharmaceutical goods, the PHARMA, to which substantial improvements have been made in recent years. This has allowed customers to have two options: PHARMA Passive, a specialized service to transport medicines already packed, which require different temperature ranges; and PHARMA Active, which aims to transport medicines highly sensitive to changes in temperature, so they are transported in containers that allow active control.
