2014 Investment Plan
TAM Cargo presented a detailed investment plan for 2014, focused on the development of infrastructure and technology that will allow the company to maintain its leadership in the Brazilian market.
During this year, approximately US$20 million will be invested towards improvements to cargo terminals strengthening the operation to principal hubs: Brasilia, Manaus, Sao Paulo (Guarulhos), and Rio de Janeiro (Galeao), in addition to 20 TAM Cargo terminals in the country. The project includes the expansion of operations, parking, and customer service counters, among others.
This investment plan is already on its way, with some improvements that were carried out during November of last year at the terminal in Manaus, a 42,600 sq ft facility with 16,404 sq ft already constructed resulting in one of the largest airline operations in Brazil and in Goiana, where the structural capacity for the reception of cargo was expanded by 150%. In addition, TAM Cargo is investing US$5 million in the development of a technological state-of-the-art system for the control and handling of domestic cargo. This will make possible to identify the status of the cargo online. This tool displays the complete cycle from the moment the cargo is accepted for shipping until it is delivered at its final destination.
