- In November, the airline fortified its presence in Europe, Africa, and North America, increasing flight frequencies from São Paulo to accommodate greater cargo capacity for Brazilian exporters.
São Paulo, December 5, 2024. LATAM Group has significantly expanded its cargo operations from São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil, effective November. The company is increasing flight frequencies to key destinations in Europe, Africa, and the United States, thereby enhancing cargo capacity for Brazilian exporters.
The airline has bolstered its presence on three continents. In Europe, it has added more flights to Lisbon, Milan, and Rome. For Africa, it has increased connectivity to Johannesburg, and in the United States, it has added more flights to Orlando. These expansions will enable LATAM to transport a wider variety of Brazilian products to global markets.
“Brazil is a pivotal market in our global network, and this expansion underscores our commitment to the country. By increasing frequencies and destinations, we’re connecting Brazil to the world more efficiently and directly. This benefits not only Brazilian exporters but also global businesses seeking high-quality Brazilian products and services,” said Claudio Torres Faini, Commercial Director for South America at LATAM Cargo Group.
To meet surging demand in the European market, the airline has substantially increased flight frequencies. Lisbon now has two daily flights, except for Wednesdays which will have one. Milan and Rome have also seen frequency increases of two flights per week. These expansions will facilitate the transport of larger volumes of Brazilian fruits, such as mangoes, papayas, lemons, figs, and avocados, to major European markets.
LATAM Cargo Brazil is also expanding its African operations with an additional weekly flight to Johannesburg, bringing the total to four. This will allow the airline to meet growing demand for general cargo and hatching eggs, solidifying its position as the only Brazilian airline with direct flights to Africa.
Furthermore, the airline has significantly increased frequencies between São Paulo and Orlando, providing customers with daily flights to transport cargo to the US market.
THIRD-QUARTER GROWTH
International cargo transported by LATAM’s cargo operators from Brazil has shown sustained growth throughout 2024. From July to September, it grew by 33%*** compared to the same period in 2023, reinforcing LATAM’s leadership in Brazil’s international cargo market. Over 53,100 tons were transported between Brazil and the rest of the world, compared to 40,000 in the third quarter of 2023.
Since late last year, LATAM has inaugurated three new international cargo routes: Miami-São José dos Campos (now with three weekly flights), Miami-Brasilia (two weekly flights), and Amsterdam-Curitiba (two weekly flights). Additionally, the airline increased frequencies on the Miami-Florianópolis route from two to three weekly flights. In April, LATAM launched a new cargo route between Europe and Florianópolis, with two weekly flights, facilitating international cargo transportation between Europe and Santa Catarina.
