LAN CARGO inaugurates improvements to its facilities in Puerto Montt

The new cargo warehouse located at El Tepual Airport in Puerto Montt was inaugurated this past February, signaling the beginning of the makeover of every cargo facility within the domestic network in Chile.

Among those warehouses that are being refurbished, Arica, Iquique, Calama, La Serena, and Easter Island.

“This investment in infrastructure is our contribution to the region since it facilitates the transportation of products while ensuring a high standard of service, improving the international connectivity on direct shipments from Puerto Montt via Santiago to more than 129 of our destinations worldwide. These new facilities allow us to deliver a state-of-the-art infrastructure to our clients as well as to our personnel, reinforcing our leadership in the air transportation of cargo,” claims Matias Herceg, Senior Operations Manager South America.

The renovated infrastructure has a designated area for dangerous goods as well as a cooler for perishables, with a capacity for 6 thousand kilos. These renovations allow the unloading of trucks with insurance coverage; a better storage and handling of the products arriving into the warehouse, allowing the segregation and care necessary for dry cargo and perishables; fast unloading as well as effective delivery of the cargo.

The LAN CARGO facilities are designed to handle 400 tons of cargo per month; among them, salmon to the United States and hake to Madrid.
