For 5 days, the city of Chicago hosted the latest version of the IQPC Cold Chain fair, an event that rallied more than 850 participants from the pharmaceutical industry and its associated vendors, packaging companies, cargo agents, RFIDs and software representatives, among others.
Exhibitors from more than 30 countries participated in the 2017 edition, including LATAM Cargo, a global company represented by a team composed of Matt Kuczek, Account Manager GSA; Robert Smith, President PTS- GSA; Claudia Magill, Director Charter Division; Rodolfo Marre, Project Manager and Valentina Anzola, Product Development Analyst, who presented the competitive advantages of PHARMA, one of the 11 care options that make up the company’s portfolio.
The LATAM Cargo team used the occasion to present its CEIV PHARMA certification, which made LATAM Cargo the first airline in the Americas to obtain such recognition from IATA in March 2017.
“This certification is the reflection of the world-class standard of our processes, which include contingency plans, continuous improvement programs and highly trained staff in accordance with the plan defined in the certification. The CEIV PHARMA certification supports the global quality and consistency of our product,” said Rodolfo Marre.
PHARMA made a good impression among the attendees because of its differentiating attributes, such as the use of thermal blankets, thermographs in all shipments to assess the internal quality of the product, and the CAPAS program (corrective actions, preventive actions), which is triggered in case corrective measures become necessary.
About CEIV Pharma
IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators on Pharmaceutical Handling (CEIV Pharma) addresses the pharmaceutical industry’s need for increased safety, security, compliance and efficiency in the pharma supply chain. These requirements become even more important considering that approximately 30% of pharmaceuticals are damaged by problems in the supply chain and nearly 20% of temperature-sensitive products are affected by disruptions in the cold chain, according to IATA.
Based on current regulations and standards, this certification accredits international procedures and rules according to the standards required by the manufacturers of pharma products.
