São Paulo, March 7, 2024 – During the Intermodal 2024 event, the cargo subsidiaries of the LATAM Group and Zurich Airport Brasil announced the launch of a new cargo route between Europe and Florianópolis (SC) starting in April, marking the first cargo route connecting these two locations.
The operation by LATAM Cargo Chile, which is subject to slot confirmation, will take place twice a week with the aim of streamlining the importation of goods from Europe to southern Brazil.
“We are pleased with this new operation that will connect the European market with southern Brazil more efficiently and seamlessly. This is a clear example of LATAM’s strategic and sustainable investment, demonstrating our constant attention to the market,” said Jorge Carretero, Central Europe Cargo Sales Manager at LATAM.
“The launch of this new route reinforces our strong partnership with LATAM, being the first airline to operate an international cargo route in Santa Catarina. It also highlights LATAM’s commitment to alternative and highly efficient markets, as seen in Florianópolis,” stated Ricardo Gesse, CEO of Zurich Airport Brasil.
It’s worth noting that in the capital of Santa Catarina, LATAM Cargo Brasil tripled the capacity of its Miami-Florianópolis cargo route in December 2023. The operation, inaugurated in August 2020, operates three weekly flights on Boeing 767-300F cargo aircraft with a capacity of over 50 tons, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Additionally, LATAM Cargo Chile inaugurated the Amsterdam-Curitiba cargo route in October 2023, initially with two weekly flights. In January 2024, they tripled the capacity of the route, currently operating flights on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays on Boeing 767-300F cargo aircraft.
