LAN CARGO strengthens presence in Asia

LAN CARGO has had presence in Asia for more than 10 years and, late last year, opened a new office in this key continent for the cargo industry. The action was the result of a plan aimed at strengthening the company’s presence in the Asian market, improving cargo feed through interlineal agreements and acquiring cultural insight in order to gain competitiveness in the continent that generates the largest amount of cargo at a global level.

After four years of efforts and sustained growth in the Asian market, the company decided to take a big step forward and open this new cargo office in Asia — an initiative that fills us with pride. Our objective is to turn the Asian market into a growingly relevant market feeder for our network,” Fernando Garretón, Sales Manager GSA’s North America, Caribbean and Asia.

Based in Hong Kong, the office is shared by LAN CARGO and LATAM Airlines Group’s staff. The  cargo unit’s strategy is for cargo originating in Asia to feed flights departing from Europe, North America and Oceania, “which opens up a world of opportunities to offer to our customers,” said Dan Weisleder, Senior Cargo Sales Manager Asia.

Cristián Ureta, LAN CARGO’s CEO visited the new office in March this year, during a trip that also took him to the World Cargo Symposium in Shanghai, one of the most important cargo conferences in the world.
